It’s happening- something I could only imagine.
From the very beginning, the Heir of Nostalgia Series seemed to be more movie than book, more imagery than ink on paper. Don’t get me wrong, writing is a powerful medium, when pen hits paper, or fingers tap keys, entire worlds are brought to life, one word, one sentence at a time, and nothing quite thrills like the first time you look down and see your imagination and words come to life on a page. And yet, despite all this, the idea that an audio book could bring a whole new dimension to your writing, never occurred to me, until I first listened to the Lord of the Rings on tape. That’s right, tape, you heard me. And despite the fact that the amount of cassettes that were needed were immense, the swapping of 10+ tapes was well worth the effort, as Tolkien’s universe burst into life through voice actors and script.
Let’s jump forward to today- and a company called Audible. These guys got it right from the get go, turning written word into music for the ears, immersing us into universes and circumstances we could only imagine, and bringing much-beloved books into a whole new arena. No longer are we bound by paper- we can now listen to our favorite authors and stories on the way to work, stalled in rush hour, or just simply enjoying the many talented Producers read their works. As a result, I think this is an amazing opportunity for the Valerian Cycle. As of early 2018, A Gathering Darkness, Book One of the Valerian Cycle, and Kaelynn’s Tale, Book Two of the Valerian Cycle, will both be available as Audiobooks on Audible. I cannot wait.
I have added both auditions to this post, I hope you enjoy them as much as I have, and look forward to having both books available as soon as possible.
